Stress Test is a single-sheet zine created at Penland in North Carolina. Inspired by the broken antique wood type housed in their letterpress studio, I copied their forms and created a pressure print matrix. These shapes are meant to be familiar while also creating relative chaos and confusion from unexpected overprinting. This trip was my first experience at Penland, where I assisted Val Lucas with her class on pressure prints and basic typesetting. Printed on Flurry text-weight cotton paper, with hand-set metal type cast by Val at the Sycamore Press and Typefoundry.
This zine is currently in print. Please inquire to purchase. $20, inclusive of domestic shipping.
